1. Overview
This application is a personal, non-commercial integration connecting Google Nest devices with a privately operated Home Assistant installation.
It is intended for use by the owner of the installation and is not publicly available as a service.
2. Information accessed
With the Google account holder’s permission, the application may access:
Google Nest device information and operational status
Camera video streams
Doorbell press events
Supported camera motion and activity events
Authentication tokens required to maintain authorised access
Access is provided through Google’s Smart Device Management API.
3. How information is used
Information is used exclusively to provide smart home functionality, including displaying device status, viewing camera streams, receiving device events and running automations.
4. Data storage and retention
Home Assistant may store authentication credentials, device information, event history and other integration data within the private Home Assistant installation.
The retention of event history and other locally stored information depends on the installation’s configuration and retention settings.
5. Data sharing
The application does not sell personal information or intentionally share Google Nest data with advertisers or data brokers.
Google’s services and any third-party services separately enabled within Home Assistant may process information as required for their functionality.
6. Security
Access to the Home Assistant installation is restricted through authentication and appropriate network security measures.
7. Revoking access and deleting data
The account holder may revoke the application’s access through Google Account security settings or remove the Nest integration from Home Assistant.
Locally retained data may be deleted through the Home Assistant installation’s configuration and data-management tools.
8. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the integration or its handling of information.
